Kyra Quinones M.S. CCC-SLP is the founder of Sound It Out Speech Therapy. Kyra holds an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification of clinical competence (CCC-SLP), a speech-language pathology California state license (SLPAB), and a teaching credential. She received a B.A. in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University and an M.S. in Communicative Disorders and Sciences from California State University, Northridge. Prior to starting her own practice, Kyra worked for Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District.
Kyra’s scope of practice includes assessing and providing therapy to toddlers, children, and young adults with a variety of speech and language disorders including: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Articulation Disorders, Central Auditory Processing Disorders (CAPD), Phonological Disorders, Apraxia, Developmental Delays, Receptive and Expressive Language Disorders, Social Skills, Cleft Palate, Fluency Disorders, AAC Therapy, Voice Disorders and Accent Reduction.
Kyra believes that therapy should be tailored and personalized to meet the specific needs of the child. She does this by using evidenced-based practice, experience and creativity, as well as a collaborative approach to give families the tools and information they need so learning continues beyond the therapy session. Her and her team’s motive is to improve each child’s communication skills, increase each child’s self confidence, and help all children find their “voice”.
